We are the web 1.0 generation. Those who have been working in the publishing and media industry for more than 10 years because they were the only people hiring!
Unlike the Silicon Valley geeks, who get hob nob with other geeks, we find ourselves constantly in the company of prolific writers, media visionaries, communication specialists, etc.
Being the only geeks in our circle, we are sought after for all sorts of techy advice. Our friends think of us as gurus on anything tech - from websites to mobile phones, PDAs, desktops, laptops and graphic cards.
So instead of conversing in geekspeak about the latest issues on TechCrunch, we often find ourselves answering questions like “How do you set up a blog/website?”, “Why can’t I customise the design of my blog on blogger?”, and “Why is my blog not showing up in search engine results?”.
Before it dawned on us to create this service, we sent our friends to wordpress.com and blogger.com. But instead of having their problems solved, they returned with more questions.
Our solution?
Create a service for our friends. In other words, to adopt Rodney’s motto: “See a need, fill a need”. For those who are not familiar with Rodney, he is the lead character in the animated film, Robots (2005).
So what is gudeblogs?
It’s a service for those who are, at heart, writers (even though they may be business consultants, media specialists, etc.). Those who just want to write and “outsource the painful parts”. We design, code, host, manage and promote blogs for writers.
